Accepted File Formats

Materials are accepted on a 3 1/2-inch disk, 100 MB Zip disk or CD-ROM in the following formats:

Mac Native Application Files

• Quark 3.3x or higher
• Photoshop 3.0 or higher
• Illustrator 6.0 or higher

All supporting fonts and graphics must be included.

PC or Mac Platform in EPS or TIFF Format

All fonts should be embedded or saved as outlines or paths.

Graphics Requirements

• Make sure all live matter 1/4-inch away from trim.
• Make sure all images are correctly positioned in picture boxes, with a fill of white or 0% black.
• Make sure the status of all imported pictures is "OK" (in picture dialogue box). If images have been modified, update these images in your final layout file.
• Make sure imported images are TIFF or EPS files.
• Make sure image resolution is at least 300 dpi; no Internet images—resolution is too low. Line art is at least 1,200 dpi.
• Make sure all images are saved as CMYK. Images saved as RGB will print black and white. Do not save an image with screen angles or transfer functions.
• Do not resize, rotate or skew graphics in document layout program. These changes should be made in the graphics program used to create them.
• Include all printer and screen fonts.
• Include all original image files.
• Provide a SWOP approved color proof. (A color laser proof does not provide adequate color for press matches.)
